Celebrating a birthday is a tradition for many and sending birthday wishes is just one of the many rituals people have. But what happens if you can’t be there in person? We investigate the other ways you can say happy birthday without needing to be present.
5 Ideas for Birthday Wishes When You’re Absent
If you can’t be there to wish a friend or family member a happy birthday, what are your other options? Here are five of our favourites:
Send them a card – it’s one of the most longstanding traditions we do around birthdays yet sending birthday cards via mail has been declining over the years. Make it a priority to send a handwritten card to show you care. We do, as we offer a free gift card with all gifts purchased from our online gift store.
Ring them – pick up the phone and have a chat with the birthday person. It’s a great time to take a moment to renew friendships and catch up on what they’ve been doing.
Wish a happy birthday on social media – spread birthday wishes using different social media platforms. This could be a simple private message, a comment on their post or a full-blown video you have created about them over the years.
Make future plans – you may not be able to help them celebrate their birthday in person, but it doesn’t mean you can’t create a plan to in the upcoming days or weeks. Make a list of the activities you’d like to do with them, such as meeting up for coffee or heading out for dinner. Send it to them via email and together you can look forward to it.
Whether you’re absent for work or live in a different part of the country, what matters is that you still acknowledge their birthday. Knowing that you remembered their special day gives them warm fuzzies, even if you weren't there in person. We’d be honoured to help you send your birthday wishes by delivering them one of our stunning birthday gift baskets. Make sure you add a free gift card, and we’ll include your best wishes within it on your behalf!
